Monaco Football Club has announced the appointment of Serbian coach Stefan Mitrović as its new head coach.
Mitrović, who previously managed Red Star Belgrade in Serbia and Macedonia, has been appointed to take over from the outgoing head coach, Leonardo Jardim.
The move comes after Monaco struggled during the 2019-20 season, finishing bottom of Ligue 1 and being relegated to Ligue 2 for the first time since 2011.
Mitrović's appointment is seen as a positive step forward for the club, which has struggled with form and results in recent seasons.
In a statement, Monaco president Vadim Vasilyev said: "We are delighted to welcome Stefan Mitrović to our team. He brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge that will be invaluable as we look to rebuild and compete at the highest level."
Mitrović himself expressed his excitement about the opportunity to work with Monaco. "I am thrilled to have been given this chance by the Monaco Board of Directors," he said. "I am looking forward to working with my players and the entire staff to achieve success on and off the pitch."
Mitrović's appointment comes at a critical time for Monaco, which is currently undergoing a period of transition under new ownership. The club is currently owned by the Qatar Sports Investment Corporation (Qatar Sport), and the new coach will play a key role in shaping the direction of the club moving forward.
Overall, the appointment of Stefan Mitrović as Monaco's new head coach is a significant development for the club, and one that could see it return to the top flight in the near future.
